CTS began in 1994 as a remarkable coming together of Christian leaders from many different denominational backgrounds. Today, CTS is a respected centre of theological education serving the cosmopolitan population of Colombo and its suburbs and reaching far beyond, training students from all over the country in the Sinhala, Tamil and English languages.
The vision of CTS encompasses our South Asian region.
Within the first ten years CTS has sent out over 100 trained graduates as ambassadors for Christ and published important theological resources with more to come.

To enable the formation of men and women who are rooted in the Scriptures, filled with the Holy Spirit and are mature in Christian character, and train them to be competent in ministry, according to the highest academic standards, and

To produce Christian literature and other material in order to provide necessary resources to the Church, enabling her to fulfill her mission among the Nations.
Our Objectives
To provide comprehensive leadership training, to prepare and equip students academically and spiritually for practical Christian ministry.
To provide training that is sensitive to the need of evangelism, which is culturally relevant to Sri Lanka and other countries of the region.
To produce Christian literature (textbooks, anthologies and journals) and other material to support the educational ministry of the church.
To provide students with cross-cultural interaction and expose them to interdenominational perspectives.
To maintain high standards of integrity and stewardship in the life and teaching of both student and faculty.
To act as a resource centre for specialized study and preparation of research on matters relevant to the Christian church.
To educate students to think, live and serve effectively as Christians. This includes encouraging student dedication to serve the holistic needs of humanity, integrating all knowledge and experience into a Christian worldview.
To make our training available in order to produce the best leaders possible. To provide Bachelor's Degree level training in Sinhala, Tamil and English mediums. To provide post graduate level studies. To facilitate competence in ministry through a programme of Practical Training.
